He felt a tingle- December 28th 2010

So, I stopped taking the pill on December 10th and had a couple days of what I called spotting but will later be considered my LMP (last menstrual period). I thought we were in the clear to try without added protection at least until I had gotten my period once, so when I got down to Florida on December 17th practice we did for the next couple weeks.  Chris started (intelligently) doubting my no risk of pregnancy theory and on December 28th insists that we just made a baby. He says he felt a tingle which at the time made me laugh hysterically.....in hindsight maybe men have good intuition also.

A situation where swallowing is necessary

I've become increasingly irritated with the people that post questions and even feedback on thebump.com.  I love the website and think it is an excellent source of information and checklists and you can even make your own baby website; however I am horrified at the stupid questions that people ask on the site!! In an article about the importance of folic acid, iron and calcium  in addition to pre-natal vitamins, several people wrote in wondering if Flinstones vitamins or Gummy vitamins would be ok to take....No idiot..you are not giving them to a three year old child...you are taking these vitamins to provide your body and babies body with enough essential nutrients to protect you both from diseases, deficiencies and birth defects!!! You can pony up and take a few whole pills down with a nice big glass of water... Or, if you are truly pill naive than take the pills one at a time placing them on the back of your tongue and taking them with a carbonated beverage..this helps them go down easier.

Makemebabies.com makes me want to eat my young!

Do Not and I repeat Do Not go to makemebabies.com if you have even an ounce of curiosity about what your future children will look like...lol. My husband and I have made picture after picture of the ugliest morph children EVER. It is pretty funny though and I'm sure someone who already has normal looking children would get a kick out of the site. I have been back on trying to load pics of myself and David Beckham and Chris with Heidi Klum...figure this is a good way to figure out whose crapping in our gene pool..jk geesh

Not the response I was looking for

I called my parent's house this morning and my dad happened to pick up the phone. After discussing the weather, my upcoming visit down to Florida and many Rooey Clifford (their dog) stories, I decided to let my 70-year-old yet to be a grandpa, dad, in on Chris and my little secret. Me: So Dad, did Mom mention to you that Chris and I are going to start trying for a family after the New Year? long pause....Dad: I heard something about you giving birth to a three pound dachsund.
Wow, seriously and just like that the conversation was over and he asked how my two dachsunds and mutt were doing. Did he think that was a normal way to change the subject? Hmmmmm. At least this phone call I was able to hang up before I had to talk to Rooey Clifford..I am not always so fortunate.

Nothing Wrong with Playing a Little Bump and Grind

R. Kelly said it best, but when you've made the decision to stop playing and start trying, there are certain things to take into consideration!
1. Talk to your OB/GYN! He/She can be a great source of valuable information and can help you to figure out what activities, medications, vitamins and more to start, stop, or continue! To find a list of doctors near you try http://www.webmd.com/  and click on the physician finder link where you can search by zip code and specialty. Most doctors include their list of accepted insurances on their profile page or you can check your insurance website for a list of in network doctors. Referrals are very important when looking for an OB/GYN so ask some friends for reviews or go to http://www.ratemds.com/  to research the doctors by name.
